Preparing for the implementation of the 2025 SNA: Regional capacity-building workshop for African countries (31 March -2 April 2026)
This regional capacity-building workshop is jointly organized by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the African Union, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), in collaboration with the other members of the Inter-Secretariat Working Group on National Accounts (ISWGNA).
The workshop aims to strengthen technical capacities of African countries to produce high-quality economic statistics in line with the updated macroeconomic standards, which reflect evolving global economic realities such as globalization, digitalization, and well-being and sustainability. Compiling national accounts in accordance with the updated standards will support data-driven policymaking and facilitate the implementation and monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Approximately 100 participants, including senior officials and independent experts from African countries and international organizations, are expected to attend the workshop.
The requested funds of USD $16,527.46 will cover the travel expenses of two resource persons from UN DESA.
