UN DESA provides dynamic expertise, the latest analytical research, and global deliberations on economic, environmental, and social topics. Its work is guided by three landmark agreements: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda.
Capacity Building for Sustainable Development
Leveraging on its thought leadership, UN DESA is committed to supporting Member States by building their capacities to move towards a sustainable future. As such, UN DESA’s capacity development support is aimed at designing transformative policies that build resilient societies and leave no one behind.
Through its extensive normative and analytical work as well as its connection to its global network of development experts, practitioners, and partners, UN DESA helps Member States to translate the 2030 Agenda, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, and other relevant global policy frameworks into viable national strategies, policies, and programmes. To fulfill this mission, UN DESA collaborates closely with the UN system and other development partners, especially the Resident Coordinator’s Offices (RCOs).
