Regional Workshop on International Statistical Classifications organized by United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the African Union Institute for Statistics (STATAFRIC) and the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD)
Request summary
The Statistics Division (DESA/SD) is proposing to organize a regional workshop on international statistical classifications, in collaboration with the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the African Union Institute for Statistics (STATAFRIC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 5-7 May 2026.
The objectives of this regional workshop course include: 1) strengthen technical capacity by help participants acquire knowledge and skills to deepens their understanding on the principles and methodology on international classifications; 2) introduce new developments in economic classifications; and 3) provide a forum that encourages participants engage in peer learning and share country experiences in the development and implementation of classifications, the main challenges and successes encountered by countries.
The total budget of this proposal is US$67,832, which covers the participation of two DESA/SD staff members, two experts, and 12 participants from the National Statistics Offices in Africa and the hiring of a consultant to develop compilation guidance notes for the implementation of ISIC Rev.5 and CPC Ver. 3.0.
