During the December 2025 mission, the Government of Nepal requested UN DESA support to address critical capacity-development and technical-cooperation needs related to its upcoming LDC graduation. In particular, Nepal seeks:

An in-person DESA/EAPD mission in early 2026 to engage a broad range of private-sector stakeholders and government counterparts, clarify misconceptions about the LDC graduation process, explain graduation criteria and monitoring, and provide guidance on available international support measures, including extensive Q&A.

Targeted capacity-building support for the private sector, notably through in-person ePing training workshops, to strengthen access to market-requirement information (SPS and TBT measures) and enhance preparedness for post-graduation trade conditions.

These requests aim to support effective implementation of Nepal’s Smooth Transition Strategy (STS), strengthen institutional coordination, and ensure that both government and private-sector stakeholders are better prepared for a smooth and sustainable transition from LDC status.
