Notes
Decision 54/113 of the UN Statistical Commission. Included Bureau members as requesting countries, on behalf of all 193 Member States.
Request summary
The Statistical Commission requested the development partners to continue to support capacity development to strengthen the statistical capacity of institutes in the wider statistical ecosystem and supported the proposal for an in-depth analysis of targeted statistical
capacity development programmes, underlying methodologies, coordination and modes of delivery of capacity development activities, including hybrid modalities and dissemination of materials in all official languages of the United Nations, and to develop a set of recommendations in collaboration with relevant partners, such as those that are part of the Global Network of Institutions for Statistical Training.

This project will implement the core foundation of a "Statistical Capacity Development Knowledge Management System" (CD-KMS) as a minimum viable product (MVP). This initial, operational system will serve as a centralized information management hub to map, track, and analyze all UNSD capacity development (CD) activities, including projects, workshops, missions, publications, and country requests. By leveraging a knowledge-graph approach, the CD-KMS will replace fragmented spreadsheet- and document-based tracking currently in place. It will provide a comprehensive, relational view of UNSD's CD portfolio, linking activities to participants, NSOs, funding sources (RPTC, XB), strategic goals (e.g., VNRs, SDGs), and outputs (mission reports, training materials). The system will significantly enhance UNSD's internal efficiency in planning, monitoring, and reporting, which in turn will improve the coherence, targeting, and effectiveness of capacity development support provided to Member States.
