Request summary
A total RPTC budget of US$ 15,000 is proposed, which will cover consultancy fee for the production of a Guidance note for incorporating the gender perspective in climate change statistics, to be used as a communicational piece for gender and climate statisticians, based on inputs from the IAEG-GS and the EG-ECCS.
Background: At the 51st session of the United Nations Statistical Commission, in 2020, the global statistical community “Requested that a gender perspective be adopted and integrated into all the agenda items of the Commission, as is, for example, the current practice in the Statistical Conference of the Americas” (Decision 51/115, b). In response to this decision, the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Gender Statistics (IAEG-GS) identified initial priority topics where a gender lens should be integrated, including climate change statistics.
In collaboration with the Expert Group on Environment and Climate Change Statistics (EG-ECCS), input materials have been prepared on the importance of integrating the gender perspective into climate change statistics, raising awareness among data producers about the need to address data gaps at the intersection of gender and climate change.
