Request summary
This request is in response to request from members of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) for UNSD to organize a series of capacity building workshops to validate the M&E framework for the Antigua and Barbuda Action for Small Island Developing States (AOSIS) with statistical experts of national statistical offices (NSOs) of SIDS and to provide them with crucial technical support for the framework’s implementation.
The workshop will be conducted face-to-face over and will consist of a series of presentations followed by group discussions. The main facilitators will be staff members from UNSD and SIDS Unit.
International and regional organisations who are custodians of selected SDG indicators will be invited to share lessons from SDG reporting and monitoring that can be adapted for the reporting and monitoring process for the ABAS. They will also be requested to share relevant resources and technical assistance opportunities to improve the production of the adopted ABAS indicators.
The workshop will benefit from the intergovernmental support work and analytical products by UNSD on areas including SDG reporting and monitoring, the implementation of the SDG global indicator framework, and evidence-based Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs). It is fully in line with the priorities set out in the approved work programme of the Inter-agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) to encourage data innovations and national efforts in bridging data gaps for SDG indicators as well as to improve data flows and global data reporting for the SDGs.
This workshop is being jointly planned and organized with the SIDS Unit of DSDG. The final decision on the venue and date will be made in September 2025.
