Request summary
The 4th International Forum on Migration Statistics (IFMS 2025) is organised by the United Nations Statistics and Population Divisions, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). It will be hosted by the Malmo University in Sweden. The Forum has been welcomed by the UN Statistical Commission, in its decisions 52/109 and 56/109, as a platform to discuss the challenges in gathering and using migration data, as well as related solutions and successful practices. The Forum aims to:
(a) intensify the exchange of information and to facilitate cooperation among relevant stakeholders;
(b) develop statistical capacity to produce basic data on stocks, flows and characteristics of international migrants; and
(c) discuss ways to improve the collection, analysis and use of migration data worldwide, to better inform policy making.
