The participants will familiarize themselves with commonly used, open-source tools data and metadata exchange and dissemination that reduce the reporting burden, raise efficiency, and improve the quality and timelines of statistical data as well as a formal and standardized approach to the data modelling of SDG indicators; improving the interoperability and user-friendliness of disseminated data. The participants will share, and learn about, experiences of countries and international agencies in the area of standardized SDG data and metadata exchange and dissemination.
Request summary
The SDMX for SDGs Regional Workshop for Central Asian countries will introduce the participants to automated reporting and dissemination of SDG data with the use of the Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange (SDMX) standard. The training will cover data modelling, mapping, validation, reporting, and dissemination.
The workshop will introduce the participants to the global Data Structure Definition (DSD) for the SDGs, and provide the participants with hands-on skills in commonly used SDMX data modelling and mapping tools, raise the participants’ awareness of the latest developments in the area, and enable them to share their experience in standards-based data exchange and dissemination.

The workshop is planned to take place in Bishkek Kyrgyzstan, on 3 – 6 February 2025 (4 days). At the host country’s request, a Technical Assistance meeting will be held on 7 February 2025.

A total of up to 20 participants are expected to attend the workshop as 8 will be funded by DESA.
