Request summary
The national statistical systems in many countries are under pressure to innovate, that is increasing collaboration, making use of non-traditional data sources, methods and tools. To do this in an effective way, it is key that they also have the needed IT architecture and infrastructure available. UN Statistics Division (UNSD), as part of the Data for Now initiative and DA13 on admin data, has developed a modular, open-source IT infrastructure. A few countries have already deployed the system and are experiencing substantial differences in reduced processing time, more stable systems and easier transfer of data from other data holders. More countries want to implement this.
Overall, UNSD has developed a number of materials and tools in capacity development that member states can benefit from, but due to very limited capacities on web management, websites could not be updated, and materials also couldn’t be added. To more efficiently provide member states with the resources, these updates also need to be urgently made
