Notes
Endorsed by the United Nations Statistical Commission in June 2008, SDMX is recognized as a preferred standard for data and its related meta-information, and has been approved as an ISO standard (17369:2013). The SDMX initiative was started and is sponsored by eight international organizations (BIS, ECB, Eurostat, OECD, ILO, IMF, UN, and WB).

As coordinator of the Working Group on SDMX for SDG Indicators established by the IAEG-SDGs, UNSD has a responsibility for, and has delivered, capacity building to the Member States in SDMX for SDG monitoring. In its most recent report session, the UN Statistical Commission Stressed the need for continued technical and financial support for countries to build capacity for the production, monitoring, and reporting of Sustainable Development Goals indicators, including on SDMX and implementing the SDG Geospatial Roadmap.

The workshop is organized jointly by UN ESCWA, AITRS (Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistic), LAS (League of Arab States) and UNSD to improve countries’ skills in mapping, converting, and disseminating SDG data and metadata, raise awareness of the latest developments and promote the implementation of SDMX at the national level.

The workshop is planned to take place in Cairo, Egypt, on 3-5 June 2024 (3 days).

The workshop is organized jointly by UN ESCWA, AITRS (Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistic), LAS (League of Arab States) and UNSD and is planned to take place in Cairo, Egypt, on 3-5 June 2024 (3 days). A pre-workshop meeting will be held on 2 June 2024 to test the materials in the venue and final coordination for the event.
