The Government of Brazil will be hosting COP30 in 2025. The conference will take place in the Amazonian city of Belem, in a region inhabited by indigenous peoples, who the government consider to be important protectors of the environment. The government has sent a request for capacity building to strengthen the capacities of indigenous peoples to contribute to environmental sustainability through cooperatives. The workshop will be an opportunity to showcase the role of cooperatives in promoting sustainable development in the run-up to 2025, which the General Assembly has proclaimed as the International Year of Cooperatives.
