Request summary
The SDMX Global Conference is a biennial event for the official statistics community worldwide to share information on recent and upcoming SDMX developments. The Global Conference brings together National Statistical Offices, Central Banks, other government statistical offices, international agencies, academia, and private sector.

The Ninth SDMX Global Conference includes a 3-day plenary meeting followed by a 2-day capacity building training session in Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX).

The participants will familiarize themselves with powerful tools and platforms for data and metadata exchange and dissemination that reduce the reporting burden, raise efficiency, and improve the quality and timelines of statistical data; a formal and standardized approach to statistical data modeling; improving the interoperability and user-friendliness of disseminated data; as well as improved data and metadata governance. The participants will share, and learn about, experiences of countries, international agencies, academia, and the private sector, in the area of standardized statistical data and metadata exchange and dissemination. The training will facilitate the implementation of data and metadata exchange between UNSD and countries, in areas such as SDG indicators and others.

A side event on SDMX for SDG indicators will take place on 28 Oct. It is proposed that 2 UN staff and Kyrgyzstan participate in the meeting to report on their implementation of SDG data exchange and dissemination and learn of recent development and future plans in SDG data sharing at national and global level. This will enable this country to expand their data and metadata exchange and dissemination of global and national SDG indicators.

A meeting of the Organizing Committee, chaired by UNSD, will also take place on 28 Oct.
