Request summary
This proposal is a response to country requests for training in support of estimation and use of National Transfer Accounts. Eight countries (Colombia, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Maldives, Uruguay, and Viet Nam) will be participating in the 15th Tranche development account project on “Inclusive and sustainable economic growth in a society for all ages in the post-COVID-19 era in Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean” – jointly implemented by DESA, ECLAC, and ESCAP. A key prerequisite for successful participation in this DA project is the completion of a recent, full set of National Transfer Accounts by the end of 2023.
To this end and to strengthen the technical capacity in these 8 countries, this proposal will fund 8 participants (one from each of the DA project countries) to participate and receive training at the Fourteenth Global Meeting of the National Transfer Accounts project (NTA14): “Building Sustainable Generational Economies” which will take place 14-17 February 2023 at the Université Paris-Dauphine, France. DESA staff will co-organize and co-teach training workshops offered to participants from all countries (an estimated 60 to 80) participating at the global conference – utilizing the UN manuals on National Transfer Accounts (DESA, 2013) and on National Time Transfer Accounts (DESA, 2023).
