The workshop "International Training on Toponymy, Geographical Names as Cultural Heritage" took place 19-23 June 2023 in Legian, Kuta, Bali, Indonesia.
Request summary
The objective of the International Training on Toponymy is to improve awareness, increase knowledge and understanding and strengthen skills in the principles and methodologies of geographical names standardization, geographical names data collection, creation of toponymic databases, geographical names data processing and management, and the creation and management of national names authorities.
The goal is to have trained, a maximum of 75 participants (cartographers, geographers, researchers, map and atlas editors) from national geographical names authorities. Training will be conducted over five days which will include six modules consisting of lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and practical exercises, and a one-day field exercise focusing on the collection of geographical names.
