UNSD’s Demographic Statistics Branch will conduct a joint workshop with UN-Habitat on implementation of the Degree of Urbanization (DEGURBA) methodology. This methodology is endorsed by the Statistical Commission at its 51st Session as a definition of cities, urban and rural areas for statistical comparison purposes. An implementation manual of the DEGURBA methodology was presented as a background document to the Statistical Commission at its 52nd Session. Implementation of this methodology will serve reporting of several SDG indicators having an urban/city and rural dimension in a harmonized manner among countries. The workshop is planned to take place in Namibia, in Autumn 2022.
