Since the global economic and financial crises, UNSD together with Eurostat and national statistical offices developed an International Programme on Short-term Statistics adopted by the UN Statistical Commission. Four manuals were prepared as part of this Programme and close collaboration was initiated with official statisticians, the academic and research community (such as CIRET) and users which proved very useful in the development of these handbooks and technical cooperation activities of UNSD. Since 2014 UNSD has been organizing a one-day capacity building Workshop prior to the CIRET Conference to support countries with implementing the International Programme on Short-term Statistics.
