The Committee for Development Policy (CDP) is mandated to monitor the development progress of countries graduated and graduating from the list of the LDCs. The CDP invites the countries being monitored to submit a report on preparation and/or implementation of the smooth transition strategy, but the participation of the countries in this monitoring exercise has been very limited in the past, partly due to their limited capacity. As requested by the CDP (E/2021/33) to be endorsed by the ECOSOC, EAPD will provide capacity development to countries being monitored, including 1) selecting relevant indicators and thresholds for each country that can alert and trigger the crisis response process within the LDC graduation monitoring framework; 2) identifying data gaps of those indicators and areas for improvement; and 3) assisting officials to prepare the monitoring report and to participate in the crisis response process.
