The National Substantive Training workshop improved capacity of public officials to formulate OGD strategies in consultation with stakeholders and to establish an OGD community and enhanced technical capacity to develop, use and sustain OGD tools. 70 participants trained, including 43 senior and mid-level national and local government representatives, public servants, ICT experts, 5 a2i staff, and 22 representatives from civil society organizations, academia, private sector and the media. Out of 52 evaluations received, 80.7% of participants gave overall positive feedback on various aspects of training: 71% assessed clarity of training objectives and level of achieving them as “very good” or “excellent” and 80% considered training as relevant and useful.

DPIDG was requested by the Government of Bangladesh to organize the National Substantive Training (NST) workshop on Open Government Data (OGD) in Bangladesh on 15-18 May 2016. The Bangladesh 4-day workshop was organized by DPADM/DMB in partnership with the Access to Information Programme of the Prime Minister's Office of the Government of Bangladesh (a2i) under the project "Strengthening of Capacities of Developing Countries to Provide Access to Information for Sustainable Development through Open Government Data."
