Local E-Government - Theory

This course equips local government administrators and stakeholders with essential knowledge and practical skills in e-government. Participants will delve into the significance of local e-government services, their role in achieving sustainable development goals, and emerging technologies' utilization. They'll explore challenges faced and learn practical policymaking approaches to enhance services. Skill development includes monitoring and evaluating e-government initiatives, assessing portals using the Local Online Service Index (LOSI) criteria, and addressing related challenges. Through interactive modules, participants gain actionable insights to drive effective e-governance practices in their communities. 

Learning Objectives: 

The main objective of this course is to empower local government administrators and other related stakeholders of digital government with knowledge and practical skills on but not limited to the following:

Knowledge

The importance of local e-government services; 
The role of local e-government  in supporting efforts toward achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs); 
Major challenges of local e-government; 
Using emerging technologies for local e-government; 
Practical ways policymakers can enhance local e-government services. 
 

Skills

Monitoring and evaluation of local e-government initiatives; 
Assess local e-government portals and websites based on LOSI; and 
Dealing with local e-government related challenges.
