This course looks at the institutions that provide oversight of the work of public agencies and branches of government. This course covers oversight institutions and horizontal accountability; the roles, types, benefits and challenges of ombudsmen, anti-corruption agencies and supreme audit institutions; and how countries across the globe are using oversight institutions for anti-corruption efforts.
This course is based on the Toolkit on Transparency, Accountability and Ethics in Public Institutions that is part of the Curriculum on Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals, developed by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
