The convening of the United Nations World Geospatial Information Congress (UNWGIC) arises out of the mandate from the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), to convene global forums to promote comprehensive dialogue on global geospatial information management with all governments, relevant international organizations, non-governmental organizations, academia and the private sector. UN-GGIM in its decision 11/101, welcomed the convening UNWGIC with the theme “Geo-Enabling the Global Village: no one should be left behind”. The UNWGIC will be held on 11 – 13 October 2022 and will have side events (workshops and learning events) on 10 and 14 October 2022
