Completed preparatory activities for the DA15 project, ensuring a solid and coherent project document, strategy, and implementation roadmap for selected African and Caribbean SIDS.
Conducted situation and needs assessments and engaged with RCOs, UNCTs, and national counterparts to identify suitable beneficiary countries and define national priorities and workplans.
Adapted analytical tools and training materials, including preparatory work on tailoring the CLEWs framework to SIDS contexts, to ensure readiness for implementation.
Strengthened inter-divisional collaboration within DESA (EAPD, DPIDG, DSDG/SIDS unit) and laid the groundwork for effective rollout of the approved USD 700,000 DA project.

Request summary
DESA has received several requests for assistance for pandemic recovery from SIDS and are in conversations with RCOs and national counterparts in several African SIDS about strengthened DESA support. Furthermore, DESA is part of the UNCT in the Comoros and on path to join the UNCTs in Guinea Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, Mauritius and the Seychelles. DESA is also supporting São Tomé and Príncipe with its LDC graduation strategy. It is envisaged that 3 or 4 countries could be supported.
