National statistical offices endorsed the vision and way forward for the implementation of the new UNdata portal, in line with countries’ priorities and agreed on the need to implement a federated data governance architecture that ensures the consistent data integration of authoritative national and international sources of official statistics. Countries requested that the new UNdata portal be based on interoperability standards for automated data and metadata exchange, while leveraging the capabilities of national data platforms. Countries stressed the need for continuous investment, especially in training and capacity-building for the use of modern digital technologies. Such demand was also voiced by some developed countries, highlighting the importance of this issue, even though they will not be target countries of this RPTC activity.
