The request was received in February 2020, a few days before the UN shut down because of COVID-19. The request covered immediate support for the preparation of Georgia's VNR report for HLPF 2022. The report was due by May 2020, so the time for DESA to provide support was already very limited when the request was received. While Georgia participated in the global and regional VNR preparatory workshops, it was not possible to travel to the country for an advisory mission to provide country-specific support. Also, in the early days of COVID-19 shutdown, the Division did not yet fully establish its capacity to provide virtual support. For this reason, the request could unfortunately not be fulfilled.
